DESIGNER

Using illumination as a building material, LIT helps to realize or enhance the architectural objectives of a living working space. We combine technological understanding with creative vision, giving each project a lighting system ideally suited for its actual use.

Often that includes not just design, but energy efficient, flexible lighting that is easy to control and maintain as it is beautiful. A breadth of experience that includes commercial, professional, residential and civic projects enables us to bring the challenge of each new assignment wide ranging solutions encompassing both ambient and accent lighting.

Susan Oster founded LIT seventeen years ago after working for more than a decade with some of the leading lighting designers in the country. LIT has been recognized in national and regional publications such as Record Lighting, Interior Design, Architectural Lighting and Architectural Digest. Several of LITs projects have won International Illumination Design Awards by the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America, including the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles, San Francisco Fashion Center and Hawaiian Electric Company/Honolulu.

While each project requires something different from the lighting team, LIT has successfully completed work requiring the following components, either alone or in concert:

  • • Concept Design
  • • Planning
  • • Schematic Documentation
  • • Fixture Selection and Placement
  • • Custom Fixture Design
  • • Control System Design
  • • Energy Consumption Analysis
  • • Alternative Budget Comparisons
  • • Working Drawing and Specification Documents
  • • Vendor and Bid Evaluations
  • • Post-Installation Focusing
